Comments	My son had a small dip in his chest when he was little. The doctor use to make comments on it and tell me that it was no big deal. Well I am here as a mother to say yes it is a big deal. My son is now almost 18 years old. Never takes his shirt off and is given a hard time in school because of this. I told him if he wants surgery to fix it we would do it. He refuses but deep down I know he wants to fix it. He is 6' 3" and 130 lbs as if having a concave chest isn't bad enough he is tall and skinny. His self esteem is low. I am afraid if he gets hit in his chest it would kill him. He says no one else in school is like that but I think he just doesn't know about them because they are like him and do not remove their shirt...ever. So people that say it doesnt affect their mentle state....you are wrong.

Comments	Just discovered tis site and the fact that this condition is legitimately acknowledged (P.E.)!!!!!! My 2 sons in their early 20's have had this as long as we can remember and just thought 'this is how they are'!!!

Comments	I am a 35 Year old Chief Aircraft Technician in the Royal Navy and married with two kids. Started noticing my chest was'nt quite right at around my teens. I was a keen swimmer and as my muscles developed, the more prominent the 'hole' in my chest looked. I guess I just accepted that was how I was built and just sort of got on with it. I have always stayed fit and healthy and participated in a wide range of sports. Recently after a medical check up I decided to find out more about the condition and was amazed at the information out there!! I have recently asked my GP for a referral to see if I can get some more advice and hopefully treated to improve the condition.
Does your pectus deformity affect you psychologically?	Definately...it is always there...... and not a day goes by without thinking about it...or trying not to think about it!!......I have always had a strong personality and a positive outlook on life....but if there was one thing I could change about me....this would be it!!!
Does your pectus deformity affect you physically?	Not really......but I feel that if I had this corrected I would enjoy physical activity more!!!!!

Comments	My son was recently diagnosed with pectus excavatum. He is only 5 months old and i have been worried sick about him.

Does your pectus deformity affect you physically?	I dont know if this has any think to do with his condition but sometimes he seems as if he is breathless when taking a bottle.

Does your pectus deformity affect you psychologically?	Yes definately, my case is not as pronounced as some I have seen but it still effects the way I feel about body image.
