| Does your pectus deformity affect you psychologically? | Yes, I am reserved with my boyfriend and I can not enjoy a bathing suit. I am also uncomfortable wearing a shirt that showes "cleavage" I have none since the indent on my left side is very noticable. |
| Does your pectus deformity affect you physically? | I am just know realizing why I am always so tired and feel out of breath when barely doing anything. I thought it was smoking but I noticed it when I was 10 and played soccer. My breasts are not even, either. I am very lopsided and that bugs me most. I also have scoliosis but just found out today and I go tomorrow for a series of tests. I want to have it all fixed so I can feel as pretty as everyone tells me I am. I didn't notice most of this until my early 20's. My ribs are uneven also. All in all it pretty much has killed my self esteem. I am now on Zoloft for that and hopefully can have surgery someday. |

| Comments | This website has really helped me understand my condition... And to be more vigilant when my children are suffering chest infections etc...By the way I am a nurse and even my GP was a little fuzzy on what exactly Pectus Excavatum was! |
| Does your pectus deformity affect you psychologically? | No as I have only just been diagnoised. |
| Does your pectus deformity affect you physically? | I have always had chest/respiritory problems since being a young child. This was put down to a bad bout of Pleurasy at a young age... so this diagnoses makes a lot of sense to me.. |
| What do you think of this website? | I think its really good that there is a website. This condition seems to be little known or publicised. So thank you. |

I was wondering if there was anything you could do about it to get rid of it, I find it very annoying and i am insecure about it and i try and hide it as much. Please email me if you have any suggestions about this. Thanks |

| Comments | My son had a small dip in his chest when he was little. The doctor use to make comments on it and tell me that it was no big deal. Well I am here as a mother to say yes it is a big deal. My son is now almost 18 years old. Never takes his shirt off and is given a hard time in school because of this. I told him if he wants surgery to fix it we would do it. He refuses but deep down I know he wants to fix it. He is 6' 3" and 130 lbs as if having a concave chest isn't bad enough he is tall and skinny. His self esteem is low. I am afraid if he gets hit in his chest it would kill him. He says no one else in school is like that but I think he just doesn't know about them because they are like him and do not remove their shirt...ever. So people that say it doesnt affect their mentle state....you are wrong. |
