CommentsMy son has pectus carinatum, he is 15. He has seen a Doctor, has had his heart tested, which they say the result's were normal, i don't believe them. My son has all kind's of problem's and when I try to talk to the doctor about it, he change's the subject, everytime. Is there something he could be hiding?
Does your pectus deformity affect you psychologically? My son will not go without a shirt, he does not want anyone to see it.He has alot of friend's so i don't think they would look at him any differently if they knew. Some of them do know about it.
Does your pectus deformity affect you physically?he said that when he run's or exert's himself that his chest hurt's. His chest swell's sometime's. He has stopped in the middle of a meal before and said that his heart temporarily stopped. his arm's go numb sometime's
What do you think of this website?Any Information that I can get on this condition is greatly appreciated.I look for information frequently. What I have learned so far is that this is more than just a puffed chest, It's starting to be a far more serious condition than I first thought. My Doctor's reluctence to talk about it is what sent me on the search for answer's. This is a very good web site.

CommentsI dont have a really bad pectus excavatum (funnel chest) and really havent noticed it untill today. I new somthing was up with my chest when i was in 7th grade but i really didnt no it was a medical condition. My parents told me that when i was younger they took me into me doctor but the doctor said their was absolutly nothing wrong and it would get better as i got older. By viewing this site iv decided to go to a doctor to get more information about it. I dont no if i would consider surgery, it has not bothered me at all and i have a very insevere case. I have had none of the symtoms like: shortage of breath, chest pains, and chest infections. By viewing this website i have realized i am not alone. others have this problem and i didnt even no that you could fix it. If you have this problem or have gone through a surgery to fix it please email me. I would really like to meet someone who has the same condition i have or has gotten it fixed.
Does your pectus deformity affect you psychologically? No it really hasnt. I do very well in school (socially) and no one has really noticed it.
Does your pectus deformity affect you physically? No it doesnt. I am involved in football, basketball, baseball, and cross country. I am the fastest kid in my class (mile) and the only thing i have noticed is sometimes i have slite chest pains when touched.
What do you think of this website?very informative..helped me out alot thanks
