Comments	I have pectus carinatum..the first time I noticed this was getting teased after taking my shirt off at boy scouts (around age 11 > I'm now 29). I persuading my mum to take me to the doctor (in tears) - we went and the doctor just said it would get better over time (which it didn't), not to be so concerned blah blah blah. It has affected my self-esteem and self-image throughout my life. I never let people see my chest, have spent many years going to the gym (which I now love to do!) - and this has helped slightly. Have only recently found out that my 'abnormality' has a name - I didn't realise other people suffered with it!!! I though I was alone...Nearing 30, I am resigned to living with it - although have considered surgery. Did see my doctor a few years back (after conjuring up the strength to show my chest!) and was fobbed of with usual 'no surgeon will operate - to risky', 'only cosmetic problem' (i.e learn to live with). I am physically very healthy, and although it has only really affected me psychologically it is has still had a powerful affect on my life. Remember, you are not alone! Does your pectus deformity affect you psychologically?	Early teens to mid twenties - almost obsessive concern with hiding it from people (no swimming, no taking of my top in front of people, no tight tops). Has prevented intimacy with other people. I'm only now learning to accept myself....which is great!!! but it's taken over 15 years. When I look back, its amazing the impact that this 'cosmetic condition' has had on my life.
Does your pectus deformity affect you physically?	Not really. Have mild asthma (severe in my childhood) - but very strong and fit.

Comments	I am 16 years old now, and i never knew that i had pectis Carinatum until rescently (13) when some lads form PE noticed my chest was different. They never took much notice after that.
Does your pectus deformity affect you psychologically?	i will rarely take my top of unless i am swimming and i will not go out unless i have a lose t-shirt on.
Does your pectus deformity affect you physically?	yes i get out of breath very easily and i struggle to lift heavy weights.

Does your pectus deformity affect you physically?	i have constant bad back for 4.5 years now! with no diagnosis. i am suffering from chest pains/ breathelesness/ muscle aches/ dizzyness/ feeling tired/ alergy to alchol/ severe feeling that i am going to die occurs occasionally when i am feeling unwell with chest pains! please contact me asap as i need some help.

Comments	I got diagnosed with p.e. couple of months ago. I got sick of people looking at my chest when i went swimming and asking what it was. I just made jokes about it laughing it off, which ive done since primary school. But it really did bother me so i went on the internet and found out what it was and went to the G.p. to see if there was anything that could be done about it. Unfourtunatly they thought that surgery so near my heart was too risky. So i guess i'll just have to live with it!
Does your pectus deformity affect you psychologically?	Yeah, i never really knew i had it because my parents never noticed it so i never got why everyone kept staring at me when i was getting changed 4 p.e. I feel quite dumb about it now and more parnoid knowing its abnormal. Ignorance is bliss!
Does your pectus deformity affect you physically?	Well i've got asthma, get quite a few chest infections, i used to get a lot of chest pains but that could have just been growing pains as i don't get them often anymore and i'd say my staminas pretty poor as i swim and play tennis regularly but can hardly keep up with my friends who hardly ever do any sport!

Comments	I'm a 43 year old woman with a severe pectus excavacum (has surgery when I was 13 - apparently didn't work). Beginning to have tightening and chest pain - drs. tell me something is pshing on the right ventricle on my heart . . . Looking for a doctor in my area.
