Comments	before viewing this site i felt like i was the only one with pectus deformity. it feels odd talking about my condition, probalbly cos i've never brought it up. i consider myself to be very strong minded person and don't allow the situation to get on top of me, but i can't deney that i've never thougth of correctual surgery.
Does your pectus deformity affect you psychologically?	i do feel insecure about myself occasional, but who doesn't. i actually push myself more, not allowing myself to use it as a excuse.
Does your pectus deformity affect you physically?	i was a keen sports man in my teens, i loved to swim and run. usually it was my fittness which stopped me first and not my breathing. since then i've become a smoker and its gone down hill from there.

Comments	Thank you for such an informative site. I suffered for years and still am after surgery 3 years ago. Surgery did little to help my condition and still now I cant lead a normal life. Things people take for granted like taking your top off on holiday are still alien to me, and make me feel like a freak.
Does your pectus deformity affect you psychologically?	Yes I am not half as confident as I know I could be. Im always aware of my chest, every minute of the day. Not a day goes by without nme wishing for a miracle operation or cure.
Does your pectus deformity affect you physically?	Most definatly. My sexual relationships have suffered and when I find a partner that excepts me and loves me who I am I tend to cling, feeling Ill never find anyone else to accept again.
What do you think of this website?	Very informative.Wished Id came along it years ago, when I could have armed myself with all the facts. I feel let down by the NHS. After years of battling to even get seen, I was left with poor results. My first operation didnt go to plan and the bar was not secured properly and I had to undergo a further procedure four days later. It was a very traumatic operation and not something I would go into so swiftly again, although I am deeply unhappy.

Comments	Ive had a sunken chest all my life. Wasnt to bad until i got to 12-13 years of age then seemed to get worse as i grew. Saw doctors etc they seemed to think it was fine! Am now in my twentys & seriously thinking about having an op.
Does your pectus deformity affect you psychologically?	Has definatly effected my psychologically, used to have the p#ss taken at school. Wont go swimming or take top off in the sun now. Feel pretty embarassed about. Altho am a pretty confident person otherwise.
Does your pectus deformity affect you physically?	Threw my teens was pretty bad, altho i stared 2work out & this has made me more broad shouldered & developed my pecs more, is fine with a t-shirt on. but now ive reached the point where working out has made the out side of my pecs big but then it sinks down in the middle. i sometimes can feel my heart really beating hard threw my chest & do worry that i seem to get out of breath quickly altho im pretty fit, is this because my heart & lungs are pushed more together cause of my ribs? maybe!

Comments	Have Pectus Carinatum forever! I am 15 yrs old. G-pa was concerned now they are trying to get me into the Shriner's hospital in Portland. Does anyone know if I have the surgery will it effect me getting into the military? I don't even know if I need surgery. We'll see. A pediatrician took Xrays and said it wouldn't effect me physically as I get older but it does.
Does your pectus deformity affect you psychologically?	I started noticing it around 6th grade going swimming, and taking my shirt off around anyone. I used to never take my shirt off. People said they didn't care about what my chest looked like so I started taking my shirt off without caring. It kind of bothers me when I walk around in public without my shirt off.
Does your pectus deformity affect you physically?	Sometimes. I was diagnosed with 'hyperactive brocule tubes' whatever that means. It's not asthma but I need an over the counter inhaler while excercising constantly. It's better now. I was in wrestling and my chest hurt alot sometimes. When I drink carbonated sodas and it goes down wrong it hurts sometimes. Hiccups really suck. That hurts. My heart hurts when I hiccup. All of these are just sometimes and not really consistantly.
What do you think of this website?	I read a past guestbook entry on the surgical proceedures being different. If there is a surgery that doesn't cause such severe scaring I would like to see pictures and learn more about it. Please update...

Does your pectus deformity affect you psychologically?	in puberty it did,and i even wrote letters to my sport teachers at shool,for not showing my chess to peoples while we had to go swimming,i stayed at the side,and also looking at others chess,and resembling created a great frustation early,but again,more in puberty,i just look to people that have no legs or arms or whatever ,and praise myself lucky (the gras is always greener at the other side)so look at people that have bigger problems instead of being depri about it,and looking at people with a perfect body,(<---doesn't exists)
Does your pectus deformity affect you physically?	i have a less lungcapacity,and also with astma it isn't so fine,but,i sport more than earlier,and i'l manage it,and i try to manipulate the chess with pumping exercise,
