Comments	To all who consider repair to "pectus Carinatum" Its a painfull procedure but its amazing how great you will feel and look after it has gone, no more having to pretend you have an itch on your shoulder to hide your chest with your arm, no more walking with a hump on your back to disguise the look in front of your chest. Get it done, its worth it. I had mine done in St James Hospital Dublin under the hand of Dr. Ailish Mc Givern in the Cardio Thorasic Dept. Kenn I have never looked back and my scar only masures about 6 inches across

Comments	this website holds very useful information on this very over looked medical condition. it needs to be made more aware and people should not just have too live with it.
Does your pectus deformity affect you psychologically?	of course. you feel ashamed and disgusted with your body. it is never an option to take my top off when it is hot not even when playing in the park. i used to enjoy swimming but now i have stopped because of the looks i get when i take my top off.
Does your pectus deformity affect you physically?	well i have a massive dent in the centre of my rib cage!! my posture is fading and i have not even got it that bad compared to the others i have seen on the website and on others. i find myself often short of breath and can not do any form of excersise with out wanting to clapse in a heap. also sometimes i can feel my heart beating so fast that my whole ribcage rumbles.
What do you think of this website?	its a very informative website with good and succent information.its straight and to the point and you can easily find out the symptons and what to expect in later life.

Comments	have gone private and am awaiting a date(4-6 weeks) for corrective surgery. have always been aware of my condition and the surgeon has said it is minor. not to me it isn,t! 33 now so have lived with it through the supposed good years. my daughter wants me to go swimming with her so now is the time. if possible don't want to live the rest of my life psychologically suppressed.
Does your pectus deformity affect you psychologically?	i have been aware of a sunken chest since a very young age. sitting upright and pulling my shirt, changing in the corner back to everybody. no swimming and missing out on the sun, yes! it has.
Does your pectus deformity affect you physically?	no i don,t think so, have always been very active physically, have asthma and has always been under control

Comments	We have just returned home from hospital after the birth of our first son, Pavel. He is only 5 days old! Fortunately - (or not, depending on your perspective) a neonatal doctor performing a regular newborn check noticed Pavel had a recessive chest. He was exhibiting no other signs of respiratory distress - a beautiful, healthy baby boy in every respect. Further consultation with the Registrar led to the conclusion that it is possible Pavel could have PE. At first we were devastated - you just want everything to be perfect - but this website has really helped put it all in perspective. We're obviously going to monitor the situtation closely and hope that it's only mild. At least we now understand the possibilitites and can better prepare ourselves and Pavel.

What do you think of this website?	Quite literally a godsend. We initially regretted consulting the web so soon - after all, we're not even positive about the presence of the condition - but we feel better equipped to be unreservedly positive in our outlook.

Comments	i think my daughter has pectus carinatum after buying her first bra it was so obvious in fact her hips dont sit level either with one side straight and the other side is curved
Does your pectus deformity affect you psychologically?	rachel is not too bad although she mentions it from time to time espically if i see her changing clothes
Does your pectus deformity affect you physically?	after starting secondry school in 2003 there have been phone calls to collect her as she is feelin ill,dizzy or on one occasion she has fainted after p.e she also when asked to go up stairs to get something she complains that her legs r weak and she is out of breath (i had this put down as her oncoming period)she also complains about a sore back from time to time.
