Comments	wow, i have never looked up my 'condition' on the internet untill now and im amazed and glad im not alone.
Does your pectus deformity affect you psychologically?	yes, since the age of about 15 i have had an eating disorder which im still recovering from at the age of 21. having a pigeon chest always made me feel like a freak. Im intrested in having an operation to fix it, would love to hear from anyone who has had it done and any other sufferers.
Does your pectus deformity affect you physically?	Not really, short of breath when i have a cold but nothing more serious.
What do you think of this website?	fantastic, after 21 years i now know it has a proper name and im not alone, thank you.

Comments	My son of 18 has P.E and has been fortunate to receive care under the NHS to correct this using an implant technique. He is due to have surgery soon. He like many others is very self conscious of how he looks without a top on, and avoids such situations if possible.
Does your pectus deformity affect you psychologically?	He is self conscious and as a teenager chooses clothes that hide the "dip".
Does your pectus deformity affect you physically?	An irritating cough is being investigated. Also he find press-ups etc difficult due to the pressure on his chest muscles.

Comments	I am a 26 year old male recovering from the Ravitch procedure performed on me two weeks ago. It has not been easy, but my chest looks great and I can not wait to start enjoying life to its fullest! For all of you who have the deformity, know that it can be corrected and it is worth the pain.
Does your pectus deformity affect you psychologically?	It always made me feel weak. No one ever teased me about it but people would look at it if I had my shirt off and I would feel ashamed.
Does your pectus deformity affect you physically?	I have always been short of breath when playing sports or exercising; not short of breath like out of shape but gasping for air after running. I also passed out a few times when I pushed my body too far.
What do you think of this website?	It was very helpful and I looked at it months before my surgery and am returning to give my input.

Does your pectus deformity affect you psychologically?	My whole life has been deeply affected by my protruding chest. I had breast implants thinking that this would hide the problem but it just drew more attention to it. I think that had i had the implants through the nhs it would have been more affective i feel my implants should have been placed better to help disguise the problem. I have got to the point where I hate going our in social situations as i am constanly trying to buy clothes to disguise it to no avail.

What do you think of this website?	its nice to have a name put to my problem so it has been helpful in that way also to know there are operations that can be performed to help.

Comments	I am 31 years old and pectus excavatum has been a problem all my life. although I have tried dealing with it I have now decided to get something done. It's a shame I can't find a consultant, in the UK, to contact who could consider my case. There are lots of websites about pectus deformities but none of them say "please contact us on....." The only one I have found is www.orthopectus.com.br. They offer a non-surgical, or 'conserative' treatment. Looks expensive but very interesting.
Does your pectus deformity affect you psychologically?	Yes. I have spent my whole life hiding myself from other people. I remember noticing I was different when I was about 8 years old. I feel uncomfortable on the beach, in the gym or if I go swimming. It would be fantastic if I could take my top of and go "hey look at me, I look great." Past experiance tells me though that someone will go "urghh, what's that" Pointing at my chest and laughing amongst themselves. I think for this reason I recoil from making close friends and have difficulty finding a partner.
Does your pectus deformity affect you physically?	Not that I'm aware of, but then, I have never not had it to do a comparison, if you see what I mean. I can sometimes feel it though, it seems sometimes it feels as though it is being pushed in further, like something caused it in the first place.
What do you think of this website?	This website is fantastic. It's good to know I'm not alone. It would be even better if you provided us with a route we could take in the UK to getting something done about this condition.
