| Comments | I am 16 years old and I was diagnosed with P.C. when I was 10. I have seen a specialist a few times now and I am still trying to decide whether or not to have it surgically corrected. |
| Does your pectus deformity affect you psychologically? | YES! I find it hard to be physically close to people and I do not like to be touched. I have very low self confidence which affects my relationships with others and my involvement in activities. |
| Does your pectus deformity affect you physically? | YES! My chest becomes painful when taking part in physical activities (like running) and I find it difficult to breathe. (I was told that this had nothing to do with my deformity). |
| What do you think of this website? | It's been very useful. I finally know what it is that is wrong with me and that I'm not alone. |

| Comments | I have had Pectus carinatum since i was 12 and i'm 18 now. Seeing that there is something out there to help encourages me. I've always thought of it as a unique part of me, but if given the opportunity i'd love to change it. Does anyone know the cost of surgery? |
| Does your pectus deformity affect you psychologically? | It has affected me by making me very self conscience |
| Does your pectus deformity affect you physically? | Not that i am aware of, except that it hurts to lay on my stomach |

| Does your pectus deformity affect you psychologically? | Sincerelly, I dont think so. I have no mental disturb with this. I usually go to the beach with my friends where there are a lot of people with perfect chest. I don't mind with it, but I don't like to stay without a T-shirt. |
| Does your pectus deformity affect you physically? | Sometimes I believe that Pectus is providing a bad sensation to me. I really don't know if is it or any postural problem. |

| Comments | My 16 year old son has had pectus excavatum since he was 8 years old. I took him to our GP then, and again a few years later, and was told each time not to worry about it, it's purely cosmetic. I was never comfortable with this, but felt who am I to disagree with a doctor. The condition has been getting more and more pronounced during his teenage years, and his posture is really quite bad. He is going to try a posture brace and exercises to see if that makes any difference. I don't think he ever actually wants surgery though. At this stage, he would like to be rid of his pectus excavatum, but not badly enough to want to go through the surgery. |
| Does your pectus deformity affect you psychologically? | It doesn't seem to affect him that I have ever observed. |
| Does your pectus deformity affect you physically? | He doesn't feel that he has as much stamina as his peers, and he finds heavy breathing (after exercise) painful. |
| What do you think of this website? | I found this web-site very clearly set out, and very informative. Thank you! |
