Comments	I am seeking information as to whether, if surgery is felt to be appropriate, it cvan be obtained on the NHS and if so, how. My son suffers from pectus excavatum and is 12 years old.
Does your pectus deformity affect you psychologically?	Yes. He is embarrassed by his deformity, especially when changing (he is a goalkeeper and so has to change publicly). I think it may be giving him a generally negative image of his own body.
Does your pectus deformity affect you physically?	Hard to say. He does seem to suffer from a lack of stamina compared to his brother and peers.
What do you think of this website?	Very informative and reassuring to find that obstacles we are encountering are not unique to us.

Comments	i had funnel chest for 16years i just got the surgery to correct it i have very good results and still healing till april u guys do a good job explain wat we go thou and the conditions of funnel chest>

Comments	Hello-I am 36 years old and I have PE-Funnel chest. I am currently on 13 meds -So I can breath. It feels like an elephant on my chest-all the time. I did get to see Dr. Colobani in Baltimore Maryland. He thinks it would be very beifit for me to have this surgery-I am having an issue with my insureance-Tenn Care. They have denied this twice now. So if anyone has any info on how I can get some asst. I would be more than greatful. Thank you so much. May God bless-Hope

Comments	I HAD THE SURGERY TO REMOVE MY PECTUS CARINATUM. It has been 3 years now... I never regret one thing, although it was really painful for the recovery. But it was worth all the way. I now feel FREE!
Does your pectus deformity affect you psychologically?	Most of my problems went away with the surgery.... I feel much more comfortable with myself, I wear all kind of clothes now, I hold my body straight too. I don't feel afraid anymore, I am more outgoing and I accept to be with people because I feel less different. The surgery was the bet thing happening to me.
Does your pectus deformity affect you physically?	No, not really. I still feel a little numb in the chest area from the big operation, but that is sooooooo nothing compare to having a pectus strike out of my chest!
What do you think of this website?	I have received about 5 or 6 emails from people that are in the same situation, and I am glad to share with them. Some people just can't live with a pectus... some don't accept it. And it destroys you inside and out when you just don't tell anyone. I think it's important to let people know that it can be corrected by surgery most of the time. Thank you.

Comments	I am a 37yr Male with P.E. I would like to know if the 'Modified Nuss for adults' is performed in Australia?
Does your pectus deformity affect you psychologically?	Yes, i find myself often feeling the space where some of my body is supposed to be, and trying to measure/feel if it getting any worse. It is about 1 1/4" deep. Yes; Doctors who dont have PE think that i shouldnt worry about it either! I wish that a partner could lye on top of me without feeling deflated!
Does your pectus deformity affect you physically?	Yes; I believe that there is a concious full-time effort to keep the posture upright to help give the most possible lung/ chest space. I also have chronic fatigue syndrome, and when extra weak, it feels as though I am fighting to keep my lungs inflated. Also a collapsing feeling when lying down in most positions. During some upper body twists I feel a heart palpitation. I think P.E is another physical drain on the bodys vital efforts.
