| Comments | Im 16 years old with Pectus Carinatum. I am trying to find alot of detailed information about procedures for P.C. My mother believes that it is to dangerous for me to get. So I am trying to find information about it so i can show her that it pretty safe. I've had P.C. since I was about 13 when I started to grow alot. My main questions are; What is the risk of something bad happening? Does the Nuss Procedure work for both P.E. and P.C.? All the websites I have found says it is for P.E. |
| Does your pectus deformity affect you psychologically? | My self-esteem has pretty much dropped since it. I use to go to the swimming pool everyday and now that I have P.C. I now leave my shirt on no matter. |
| Does your pectus deformity affect you physically? | I get winded when I walk up the stairs. |
| What do you think of this website? | Forum helped me out with alot of it. Especially Jay from England. |

| Comments | I am 25 years old and have suffered with P.E as long as I can remember. I experienced the usual ridicule during adolescent years that is usually reserved for the changing rooms during physical ation at school, but my condition has only really become an issue recently. I underwent investigation into palpatations and possible irregilarity with my heart. There was a suspicion that my P.E may have been a contributary factor in this, but this was later dispelled. However, this still got me thinking about having something done to improve my quality of life in that I wouldn't dare go swimming realy, or play football in the summer bear chested. Luckily, I have been given the chance for a corrective procedure to be carried out within the next 6 months. |
| Does your pectus deformity affect you psychologically? | This is not something that has a continuous effect on me. I would urge people to seek help if they feel it is needed. I, myself was sceptical about going to my doctor about the condition as I was expecting an attitude of 'you've put with it for this long, there's no point now', but this has been dis-proven. |
| Does your pectus deformity affect you physically? | No. |
| What do you think of this website? | This website s a god send, if only as a tool of encouragement for tise who are unsure of the next move in getting help for themselves. |
