| Comments | Thank you for some insight into pectus excavatum. I have a 18 month old daughter with this condition and have not been able to find a web site here in New Zealand to help with questions that concern her health. In the last six months it has become quite bad. The doctor has ordered x-rays at this stage. I am concerned as hers seems to be quite severe with being so little. |

| Comments | My son was born with a hernia of the diaphram and has now got a pectus excavatum, his 1 year old and the consultant has told us that this is not severe and he could grow out of it or it coul stay the same as it's not casing him any problems, what are the chances though? most websites say they worsen with time, will he be prone to more infections.. I can help but worry. |

| Comments | Have a 29-year-old son with Pectu Excavatum - were told when he was a baby there was 'nothing to be done about it' and to encourage swimming and other exercise to minimise.
He is now reporting continual chest pains, and also his ribs 'crack' when he makes sudden movements. Was referred to a cardio-thorrasic surgeon who simply said 'just live with it'.
Am trying to find out whether the pain is something that should be checked out further, or whether he should, in fact, just 'live with it'! |
| Does your pectus deformity affect you psychologically? | Believe it has affected him enormously - is withdrawn, lack self-confidence to an extreme. |
| Does your pectus deformity affect you physically? | Chest pains and ribs 'cracking', he tells me. |
| What do you think of this website? | Really helpful to find out information about the condition which I knew nothing about. |

| Does your pectus deformity affect you psychologically? | My pectus deformity did affect me psychologically. When I was younger and in to scouting I always took merit badges that involved swimming or taking my shirt off. I was always made fun of when I did. I think the worst name I had to ever endure was (cave boy.) I quit scouting for a while and never went swimming agian because of my chest. |
| Does your pectus deformity affect you physically? | After my surgery it did affect me more physically than it did before I had the surgery. I have to take more breaks in tennis than I ever have. But the main thing is that I feel better about my self having the surgery. |
| What do you think of this website? | This website it a very informitive website about pectus deformity. I never knew so many people had this same thing before vewing this site. I am writing a review over this surgery in my communications class. This site is one of my sources. |
