Comments	I was never really sure when i started to get P.E. but i think it was when i was 12 people started noticing.Im 17 now and I feel that i want somethng done about it. My perants have always told me its not that much of a big deal but i think they just dont want to go throught the trouble of having to go to the doctors.My big brother has it to but a bit worse.
Does your pectus deformity affect you psychologically?	Yes up until I was twelve i was outgoing and loved sport and liked talking to everyone.But now I can swim or go to my fouvrite beach cos I worry to much and i find it very hard to talk to girls.
Does your pectus deformity affect you physically?	I dont think it has i feel short of breath sometimes.
What do you think of this website?	Very helpfull and i finaly learned the name of the deformity and learned how it is surgical treated. Thanks a bunch (fingers crossed)

Comments	Ihave a caved chest but i can do most sports and activities i try to carry on as normal and do not let it stop me from normal life things.

Comments	I have an entry earlier on in the book it was posted before i had my operation, i came on here looking for people in the same situation as myself and i did although 98% of them are male as it is not very common in women mine was also a bit different in the way it had presented itself it didnt not develop until i was approx 6yrs old and it was just an indentation in my breast bone which was fine it caused me no problems then it all kicked off when i was 20 my bones even though they should have stopped growing started to shift and twist my left side of my ribcage in over the small indentation got deeper to me i was becoming physically repulsive it took me a few months to make my doctor understand that i needed to have something done it was hard work but i was finally given the operation in november and it is the best thing i have ever done making the decision to have that done.
Does your pectus deformity affect you psychologically?	it definately used to i was convinced that i was turning more and more physically repulsive i couldnt understand how my fiance could say i was pretty and that he loved me when i looked like that you could see my bulging ribs through my clothes and due to the indentation in my breast bone it started to pull my breasts into it causing problems when i had to buy new bras and now after my operation i feel happy and comfortable within myself once more.
Does your pectus deformity affect you physically?	yep it really did affect me physically i had problems breathing even when i was just eating my bones became really sore the muscles in and around my ribcage would go into to really painful spasms and all of those factors put together managed to supress my apetite for food so my food intake decreased as i was scared to eat too much as i had major breathing problems and now after the op my bones to ache yeah i still get a few muscles spasms but they are still healing from surgery i can breath perfectly normal eat as much as i like do anything i want too as long as it doesnt disturb my surgery site too much as the muscles still have a bit of healing and strength building to do.
What do you think of this website?	i think this website is really informative it helped me alot being able to just discuss a problem with someone who was or had been in my situtaion and i would like to think that i can help someone the way i was helped someday so feel free to email me

Comments	I appreciate this web site a lot. I just found out my son has pectus excavatum and we have to wait two more weeks to talk to the surgeon, this is the only place we found to find any information on this at all. Before we found it, we were absolutely clueless as to what our son had or what could be done to correct it. Thank you.
Does your pectus deformity affect you psychologically?	My son is the one who has pectus deformity but I can tell you that is does bother him psychologically a great deal. He tells me that when he changes in gym class he makes sure his shirt is ready to go as soon as his other is taken off. He never lets anyone see his chest.
Does your pectus deformity affect you physically?	Yes. My son will not go without a shirt because you can see the deformity.

Comments	I never knew I had p.e. until I consulted with a plastic surgeon on another matter and mentioned my sternum abnormality to him. I am now 32 years old. I visited several doctors while I was in college who all insisted that it was nothing or that I must have separated my cartilage from my sternum somehow and it healed that way. It's nice to have a name for the condition now. I have a mild case of it, with no other symptoms other than some pain and discomfort wearing bras with underwires. I wish more doctors were aware of these conditions. They all thought I was crazy for bringing this up to them!
Does your pectus deformity affect you psychologically?	Somewhat...I do have poor posture, to hide the shape of my chest, and since bras don't fit right I don't feel like I can wear fashionable clothes.
Does your pectus deformity affect you physically?	I have pain in my chest, but don't notice any shortness of breath.
