Comments	MY DAUGHTER HAD A CT SCAN AND IT SAYS IT APPEARS TO BE PECTUS EXCAVATUM DEFORMITY WITH NARROWING OF THE AP DIMENSION OF THE CHEST. WHAT DOES THIS MEAN? MY DAUGHTER HAS SHORTNESS OF BREATH, AND CAN NOT BE AS ACTIVE BECAUSE OF THE PAIN IN HER CHEST. WOULD THIS HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH IT.? I AM VERY CONCERNED. I TOOK HER TO THE DR.SHOWED HIM THE INFO ON IT, IT WAS NO CONCERN TO HIM. I NEED TO KNOW WHAT TO DO.

Does your pectus deformity affect you physically?	YES, I WAS VERY ACTIVE AND ALL OFA SUDDEN EVERY THING HAS STOPPED. GETTING T O TIRED FEEELING LIKE I CA NOT GET ANY AIR, AND SEVERE CHEST PAIN.
What do you think of this website?	I THINK THIS NEEDS TO BE MORE PAYED ATTENTION TO. THE DOCTORS, I FOUND OUT JSUT BRUSH THIS OFF. MY DAUGHTER HAS BEEN IN PAIN FOR FOUR MONTHS AND GETTING WORSE. THE DDCOTORS MAKE IT OUT NOT TO BE A BIG DEAL. JUST TAKE PAIN MEDICATION.

Comments	I/m 32 years old and lived with sunken chest from the age of about 12.... never really noticed it before then but when puberty hit it got a lot worse. Never really been bothered by it ( I've been in the RAF for 15 years) but for the past 2 years have had to live with daily back pain.
Does your pectus deformity affect you psychologically?	Don't know if it's because of n#my deformity but i'm always the first to strip off when the sun comes out... maybe as a challenge for people to say something.
Does your pectus deformity affect you physically?	not for the first 30 years but I now suffer from Thoracic Back pain caused by rib deformaton.
What do you think of this website?	First time I ever looked in to my deformity and it's reassuring to know there are other people out there..... I've had a good career in the armed forces so keep your chin up and remember it's not what you look like that people remember....it's how you live that matters.

Comments	My 13 year old has Pectus Excavatum, only diagnosed after I carried out thorough research myself (this was even after a chest X/ray which clearly indicated a depressed sternum). My GP surgery advised that I could not be referred to a specialist and that needed to see a local ortho surgeon initially. I contacted the specialist in Edinburgh direct and they were fantastic and advised that they would take an immediate referral and see him within the next 1/2 months.
Does your pectus deformity affect you psychologically?	My son is very strong in character and has no problem discussing this but he is more physically aware as you would expect of any teenager and I am not sure what this could mean for his self esteem in the future.
Does your pectus deformity affect you physically?	We are not sure. My son plays a lot of sport and can get extremely exhausted. When he was younger his heart would thump in his chest.
What do you think of this website?	If it wasn't for this website I would not have been able to get a specialist referral so thank you so much.

Comments	I am a teenager w/ pectus carinatum. I have apparently had it mildly since birth, but recently, it has worsened. I decided to look into the possibility of having it corrected, though at this point I am still not sure what to do.
Does your pectus deformity affect you psychologically?	Yes, I feel uncomfortable around others, refuse to do anything that involves taking my shirt off(generally), although sometimes I will swim. It just makes me feel inadequate, inferior... and just, well, different in a bad way.
Does your pectus deformity affect you physically?	Yes. It has quite clearly affected my posture, and due to my discomfort w/ no shirt on, I tend to not excercise at all(I used to swim alot).
What do you think of this website?	I think that overall, this is the best website I have found on the subject, although in the "surgical treatment" section, it could definitely be better. It (to me) is unclear in some areas(on whether the Leonard procedure can be used for Pectus Carinatum, how long it has been practiced, and its quality of results. It mentions the possibility of infection, but does not say whether that is common or not, and it mentions teh necessity of a brace to be worn after the procedure, but (although it is shown in the pictures) it does not describe the brace, or say if it will affect any sort of normal activity.

Comments	i have pe im 33yrs old. i never take my top off in the summer and i dont go swimming. i dont no anyone else who has pe/pc and psychologically my brain is srcew'd with just thinking about it,i mean every day for the last 16/17 years.people some times commenting on it like LOOK AT YOUR CHEST ! physically over the last year or so i've been getting a lot of racing heart beats that take some time to slow down.

Comments	I was never really sure when i started to get P.E. but i think it was when i was 12 people started noticing.Im 17 now and I feel that i want somethng done about it. My perants have always told me its not that much of a big deal but i think they just dont want to go throught the trouble of having to go to the doctors.My big brother has it to but a bit worse.
Does your pectus deformity affect you psychologically?	Yes up until I was twelve i was outgoing and loved sport and liked talking to everyone.But now I can swim or go to my fouvrite beach cos I worry to much and i find it very hard to talk to girls.
Does your pectus deformity affect you physically?	I dont think it has i feel short of breath sometimes.
What do you think of this website?	Very helpfull and i finaly learned the name of the deformity and learned how it is surgical treated. Thanks a bunch (fingers crossed)
