Comments	I am a 27 year old female and I have pectus excavatum.
Does your pectus deformity affect you psychologically?	No! And it never has. Both my mother and I have pectus excavatum. I think since I was not the only one in my family that had pectus excavatum, it made it easier for me to deal with the psychological aspect of the defect. I embrass the fact that I am different! One year, I researched surgical corrections...I decided against surgery. Even though I feel like my sunk-in chest is the deepest measuring 5 inches and my collar bones also curve inward. I stand tall, with my shoulders back and face the world.
Does your pectus deformity affect you physically?	Yes, I have heart flutters, deep heart beats, and I am not able to take deep breaths. I also have chest pains. Sometimes I find myself holding my breath.

Comments	This is great. I just typed in pectus excavatum and this is where I ended up.This is exactly what I need as I am taking my nearly 3 year old grandson for an xray on this. His chest is so big that I can cup it in my hand.

Comments	Im a 21 year old college student and I have PC. My mom first noticed it when I was about 8 and she was putting suntan lotion on me. My uncle was there when she noticed and he said it was nothing to worry about. My case is normal to slightly above average compared to most pictures I have seen.
Does your pectus deformity affect you psychologically?	Yes. I try to avoid situations where my shirt will be off around people im not familar with. And when my shirt is off Im always touching my hair or face so that my chest is harder to see.
Does your pectus deformity affect you physically?	I feel that PC has had no impact on my life physically. I consider myself a good athlete. I play basketball, golf, and tennis, however I am hesitant to play contact sports like football just because any direct hit to my chest hurts. I have also noticed that my PC condition has limited the growth in the leftside of my upperbody. Bench pressing freeweights is literally twice as difficult for my leftside than right side.
What do you think of this website?	The website is great. Up until a couple of years ago my family thought I had PC because my twin sister possibly kicked me in the chest when we were womb-mates. The website is very informative and helpful, probably the best on the web.

Comments	Hello, I have Pectus Carinatum and I am thirteen years old and almost finished with the eighth grade. I am getting surgery this summer.
Does your pectus deformity affect you psychologically?	Yes, I'm very self conscious. I don't like going to pool parties and wear low cut tops. Sometimes I don't feel like i'm "normal".
Does your pectus deformity affect you physically?	I'm not sure, when I run hard my chest feels tight and is uncomfortable to take deep breaths. But the doctor said that I do not have asthma.
What do you think of this website?	I like that you can read peoples entires, it makes me feel like I'm not the only one who has pectus carinatum.

Comments	MY DAUGHTER HAD A CT SCAN AND IT SAYS IT APPEARS TO BE PECTUS EXCAVATUM DEFORMITY WITH NARROWING OF THE AP DIMENSION OF THE CHEST. WHAT DOES THIS MEAN? MY DAUGHTER HAS SHORTNESS OF BREATH, AND CAN NOT BE AS ACTIVE BECAUSE OF THE PAIN IN HER CHEST. WOULD THIS HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH IT.? I AM VERY CONCERNED. I TOOK HER TO THE DR.SHOWED HIM THE INFO ON IT, IT WAS NO CONCERN TO HIM. I NEED TO KNOW WHAT TO DO.

What do you think of this website?	I THINK THIS NEEDS TO BE MORE PAYED ATTENTION TO. THE DOCTORS, I FOUND OUT JSUT BRUSH THIS OFF. MY DAUGHTER HAS BEEN IN PAIN FOR FOUR MONTHS AND GETTING WORSE. THE DDCOTORS MAKE IT OUT NOT TO BE A BIG DEAL. JUST TAKE PAIN MEDICATION.
